About the Artist

“I am always making something.”

Kira is a self taught artist based in Arizona. From the moment she was born, curiosity compelled her to explore every last inch of the earth; assembling and disassembling what she could, and drawing the rest.

During her teenage years, in which she battled with chronic illness, art was a reprieve. Nearly every spare moment was spent creating in some way. She picked up every medium she could, and eventually began to favor oil painting, soft pastel, and charcoal.

“When I discovered the world of realistic painting, the smallest leaf, the bird in the window, and even scraps of papers on my desk took on a whole new life. Art is my way of seeing. When I wish to dive into the heart of my surroundings, I do so by drawing.”

“It is so hard for me to not be making something. My hands need to move and my mind needs to learn—it’s how my spirit breathes.”
