Artwork Commissions

Bring your ideas to life.

It is so important to have a way to preserve the moments that matter, and to paint the pictures you know someone in the world needs to see. Art is unique in the way it can tell a story—nothing quite captures the essence of those you love like a painting.

I would be honored to collaborate with you to create a custom artwork for you and/or your loved ones.

“Manny”, 24x36”, commission.

Let’s make it happen.

I specialize in commissioned portraits, both of people and animals, yet I am open and eager to explore all the ideas you have. Using only high quality, archival materials, we will create a one-of-a-kind piece that will bring you joy for many years to come.

“The Trio”, 12x16”, commission.

5 Simple Steps to Commission a Portrait

  • I will need to have some photos of the subject to reference while painting. The best photos aren’t too bright or too dark, will have the whole figure in the photo, and will be in focus (not blurry or pixelated).

If you are unsure if a photo meets these requirements, please feel free to contact me and ask. You can send me as many pictures as you would like. Different angles and expressions can help me to get a better feel for the personality of the subject.

If you have any specific desires or ideas for the painting, or if you need help deciding on the perfect composition to bring out the absolute best in your commission, let me know early on so we can brainstorm together on these!

  • Picking a standard size for your artwork lowers framing costs and makes shipping significantly easier. Prices are based on the size of the painting.

This chart shows the prices for a portrait of a single subject with a simple background in charcoal or pastel on paper or an oil painting on standard canvas:

    Charcoal/Pastel Oil Painting

    8x10 $125 $195

    11x14 $175 $275

    16x20 $255 $375

    18x24 $350 $475

If you would like to have more than one subject in each painting, add 30% of the base price for each additional subject.

If you would like to have a complex background (including, for example, scenery or objects behind the subject), or if you would like a different size, please contact me so I can give you a quote.

Please note that the turn around time for oil paintings is longer than drawings because the paint needs time to cure between layers and before applying a protective varnish. If you need to have an oil painting by a specific date, please contact me as early as possible.

  • After we work out the details for your commission, I will send you an invoice for a 50% nonrefundable deposit. After receiving that, I will begin the creative process!

If you would like to receive progress photos to keep you in the loop throughout the creation of your commission, please let me know! I would love to share them with you.

  • Once your commission is complete, I will send you a photo of the piece to review. I will do one revision if there is any aspect of the painting you are not satisfied with. Upon approval, I’ll send you an invoice for the remaining balance of the commission plus shipping costs. I will have your painting shipped within 5 business days of receiving the final payment.
